In the late 70's/early 80's, the pirate radio era in Ireland was in full swing. Remember RLWE, Big L, Raidio Luimni, CCR, SoundChannel, the ill-fated WSPD and Limerick's first "Hot Hits" format station - Hits 954 ? You could also receive stations from other areas around the mid-west and south of the country, such as WRKY (later to become Horizon Radio), Radio Clare, ERI (Cork), Coast 103 (Limerick/Galway).

Thanks to a number of contacts, namely Ian B, Mike R, George & Mark, I will soon be adding additional sound clips and info from Raidio Luimni, CCR, Hits 954 and WCR (Abbeyfeale) - stand by for an influx of more memories from the 70s and 80s!

If you have any audio clips from a station in Limerick in the late 70s or 80s that you would be willing to share, please contact me; if there are any clips you would like to hear, email me and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, check out the pages and audio clips listed opposite. Enjoy!
